PB Design's Customised Battery Chargers Provide Load Security at Al Wasit Power
Following an integrated improvement project implemented by the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa), Bristol based PB Design has provided Alstom T&D with a dual 110V battery charger for a new power station in Al Wasit.
Alstom has installed two gas turbine units with a capacity of 60 megawatts at the station and the project includes a 220 Kv overhead line connecting the power and desalination plant with the Sharjah A station and on to the 132 Kv stations at the Sports Centre and Al Hamriya.
PB Design's customised, microprocessor-controlled 110V 175A battery charger has been designed for ultimate reliability. Backing up the station's switchgear, it has been installed complete with 800 apH Ni-Cd Batteries which cope easily with the area's extreme environmental conditions which can reach 50°C during the Summer months.
